The Timeless City of Cairo

I should emphasize that such relaxation referenced below cannot be permanent, and depends upon the ability to stay connected with events, and the vast tentacles of the internet are key in keeping abreast of it all.

And so I can - and have had the absolute pleasure to - read the text of Obama's speech in Cairo yesterday. "We must say openly the things we hold in our hearts." Such a beautiful, wondrous speech, I would not change a word. How happy and proud I am, that he is President. Just, wow, at that. Keep going, my friend. Keep going.

June Five. Ah, last night, Gartner you would not believe it if I told you, but how I entertained some Scots from Strathclyde with stories of DJ Phil (seriously) and rejoiced to hear the girl Natalie say that she had heard such rumours, that he was indeed a legend when "he was in his prime". And too I did follow the words of Ben from Bath, who picked us up at the port and said to do Ios right you should be returning to the hostel at daylight. Unexpectedly. Only one night here, but a grand place that should not be missed for the world. Francesco himself rubbed the newly acquired beard upon arrival, and wished aloud that his was of the same colour again. Heh. And the guy who just walked in to the reception here just had a great quote when asked whether his night was epic by the Aussie girl working here. "Not epic, just the usual blackout."

"Ah, Malakas," Francesco said jovialy, then. And quickly: "You have been in Greece long enough to know that word, I think." Happily, of course, he was right.
